Tools to play around

What can go wrong

  • Decimating SmashPractise the hit area and target conditions first. Do not spend the rest of your rotation automatically when the opening damage misses.
  • Soul FurnaceMatch the protective effect to the moment damage arrives. Read who it protects and how long it lasts before relying on it.
  • A completed combo is only useful when your position, resources and follow-up are safe.

Abilities & tips

Open an ability to read its effect and a practical use tip.

PGlory in Death

After being killed, Sion will temporarily reanimate with rapidly decaying Health. His attacks become very rapid, heal him, and deal bonus damage based on his target's maximum Health.

Use it well

Practise the hit area and target conditions first. Do not spend the rest of your rotation automatically when the opening damage misses.

QDecimating Smash

Sion charges a powerful swing in an area in front of himself that will deal damage to enemies when released. If he charges for enough time, enemies hit by the swing will also be knocked up and stunned.

Use it well

Practise the hit area and target conditions first. Do not spend the rest of your rotation automatically when the opening damage misses.

WSoul Furnace

Sion shields himself and can reactivate after 3 seconds to deal Magic Damage to enemies nearby. When Sion kills enemies, he passively gains maximum Health.

Use it well

Match the protective effect to the moment damage arrives. Read who it protects and how long it lasts before relying on it.

ERoar of the Slayer

Sion fires a short range shockwave that damages and slows and reduces the Armor of the first enemy hit. If the shockwave hits a minion or monster, it will be knocked back, damaging, slowing, and reducing the Armor of all enemies that it passes through.

Use it well

Practise the hit area and target conditions first. Do not spend the rest of your rotation automatically when the opening damage misses.

RUnstoppable Onslaught

Sion charges in a direction, ramping up speed over time. He can steer his charge slightly with the mouse cursor location. When he collides with an enemy he deals damage and knocks them up based on the distance he has charged.

Use it well

Use this control to create a follow-up window. Check the target’s defensive spells and your teammates’ range before committing.

Sion combos: execution and timing

AA = basic attack · EAA = empowered attack · 1/2/3 = cast stage. Follow the order, not instant key presses.

Recast practice: Soul Furnace

  1. Roar of the SlayerE
  2. Decimating SmashQ
  3. Soul FurnaceW
  4. AA
  5. AA
  6. Soul FurnaceW

With Sion, start with Roar of the Slayer, then continue through Decimating Smash → Soul Furnace → Basic attack → Basic attack → Soul Furnace. Give Decimating Smash time to produce its effect. Train the required positioning before adding the other actions.

Mistake to avoid : Avoid an action that interrupts Decimating Smash; a quick rotation is not useful if the important effect never finishes.

Repeated spells may need a recast window or a cooldown; check that the next activation is actually available.

Game plan by role

Sion · Top
Early game

Keep trades short until you understand the opponent’s main cooldown. Check the minion wave before chasing and preserve a route back to your tower.

Mid game

Decide between a side-lane push and joining the next objective. Push only as far as your vision and teammate positions allow.

Teamfights

Agree on your job before the fight: pressure a side, threaten a target or protect a carry. Save a key defensive tool when the enemy can turn on you.

06

Matchup preparation

Compare opponents in the build for the role you are actually playing. Then check their key control, escape and defensive spells before choosing your trade.

07

Practice checklist

  1. Cast each ability alone and identify its range, target conditions and stopping point.
  2. Practise the first sequence slowly. Repeat it while moving, without skipping the conditions shown on its card.
  3. After each attempt, identify the spell you would still have available to defend or retreat.
