Tools to play around

What can go wrong

  • EmberstrikePractise the hit area and target conditions first. Do not spend the rest of your rotation automatically when the opening damage misses.
  • Inferno AegisMatch the protective effect to the moment damage arrives. Read who it protects and how long it lasts before relying on it.
  • A completed combo is only useful when your position, resources and follow-up are safe.

Abilities & tips

Open an ability to read its effect and a practical use tip.

PScalemail

Takedowns on enemy champions, large minions, and large monsters grant Shyvana Scalemail stacks, improving her defenses.

Use it well

Read the effect and its conditions, then practise it alone. Build your sequence around the effect you can reliably reproduce.

QEmberstrike

Shyvana's next attack strikes both the target and the surrounding area. This Ability can be recast. While in Dragon Form, it gains an additional recast, dealing massive damage to a single target.

Use it well

Practise the hit area and target conditions first. Do not spend the rest of your rotation automatically when the opening damage misses.

WInferno Aegis

Shyvana gains a shield, movement speed, and after a short delay, the area around her detonates. While in Dragon Form, the explosion will heal her if it strikes an enemy champion.

Use it well

Match the protective effect to the moment damage arrives. Read who it protects and how long it lasts before relying on it.

EMolten Burst

Shyvana launches a fireball that explodes upon striking a large target and slows them. In Dragon Form, it passes through and explodes upon striking large enemies, leaving behind a trail of fire.

Use it well

Use the slow to make the next action easier. It does not replace checking distance, cooldowns and an escape route.

RDragon's Descent

Shyvana transforms into a Dragon and leaps forward causing enemies along her path to flee. While in Dragon form she becomes larger and her basic abilities are empowered.

Use it well

Decide where you want to finish the movement before casting. Using mobility to enter a fight can leave fewer options to retreat.

Shyvana combos: execution and timing

AA = basic attack · EAA = empowered attack · 1/2/3 = cast stage. Follow the order, not instant key presses.

Follow up with Molten Burst

  1. Molten BurstE
  2. Inferno AegisW
  3. AA
  4. EmberstrikeQ
  5. AA

With Shyvana, start with Molten Burst, then continue through Inferno Aegis → Basic attack → Emberstrike → Basic attack. Use Emberstrike to prepare the next attack; let that attack connect before moving to the next action.

Mistake to avoid : Pressing Emberstrike alone is not the empowered hit: do not cancel the following attack.

Include Dragon's Descent in the rotation

Game plan by role

Shyvana · Jungle
Early game

Practise a repeatable clear before adding risky invades. Check nearby lane positions before entering the river or committing to a gank.

Mid game

Prepare objectives by resetting, checking vision and moving with nearby allies. Avoid starting an objective solely because it has spawned.

Teamfights

Keep Smite and your escape plan in mind around contested objectives. Choose between engaging, covering a carry and keeping access to the objective.

06

Matchup preparation

Compare opponents in the build for the role you are actually playing. Then check their key control, escape and defensive spells before choosing your trade.

07

Practice checklist

  1. Cast each ability alone and identify its range, target conditions and stopping point.
  2. Practise the first sequence slowly. Repeat it while moving, without skipping the conditions shown on its card.
  3. After each attempt, identify the spell you would still have available to defend or retreat.
