Tools to play around

What can go wrong

  • Death's HandPractise the hit area and target conditions first. Do not spend the rest of your rotation automatically when the opening damage misses.
  • Vision of EmpireUse the slow to make the next action easier. It does not replace checking distance, cooldowns and an escape route.
  • A completed combo is only useful when your position, resources and follow-up are safe.

Abilities & tips

Open an ability to read its effect and a practical use tip.

PRavenous Flock

Swain's ravens collect Soul Fragments that heal him and permanently increase his maximum health.

Use it well

Read the effect and its conditions, then practise it alone. Build your sequence around the effect you can reliably reproduce.

QDeath's Hand

Swain unleashes several bolts of eldritch power that pierce through enemies. Enemies hit take more damage for each bolt they are struck by.

Use it well

Practise the hit area and target conditions first. Do not spend the rest of your rotation automatically when the opening damage misses.

WVision of Empire

Swain opens a demon eye that deals damage and slows enemies. Champions hit are revealed and also grant Swain a Soul Fragment.

Use it well

Use the slow to make the next action easier. It does not replace checking distance, cooldowns and an escape route.

ENevermove

Swain launches a wave of demonic power forward. It then returns to Swain and roots enemies it hits. Swain can then choose to pull all rooted champions closer. This ability has a shorter cooldown during Demonic Ascension.

Use it well

Use this control to create a follow-up window. Check the target’s defensive spells and your teammates’ range before committing.

RDemonic Ascension

Swain transforms into a demon and drains health from nearby enemy champions, minions, and neutral monsters. Swain can cast Demonflare to decimate and slow nearby enemies with a nova of soulfire. This form is indefinite as long as Swain drains enemy champions.

Use it well

Read the effect and its conditions, then practise it alone. Build your sequence around the effect you can reliably reproduce.

Swain combos: execution and timing

AA = basic attack · EAA = empowered attack · 1/2/3 = cast stage. Follow the order, not instant key presses.

Recast practice: Nevermove

  1. NevermoveE
  2. Vision of EmpireW
  3. NevermoveE
  4. Death's HandQ
  5. AA

With Swain, start with Nevermove, then continue through Vision of Empire → Nevermove → Death's Hand → Basic attack. Treat the repeated Nevermove as separate activations. Practise its first effect and the moment for the follow-up independently.

Mistake to avoid : Repeated keys do not mean instant presses; confirm the recast is available and its target is still valid.

Repeated spells may need a recast window or a cooldown; check that the next activation is actually available.

Game plan by role

Swain · Support
Early game

Stand where you can help your lane partner without exposing both of you. Coordinate the opening before spending your main control or protection.

Mid game

Set up vision with nearby allies rather than walking into unlit areas alone. Roam when your lane partner can safely handle the next wave.

Teamfights

Choose between creating an opening and protecting the teammate who can carry the fight. Do not spend every defensive spell on the first visible enemy.

Before your next fight, check: Death's Hand · Demonic Ascension · Combos

Swain · Bot
Early game

Coordinate trades with your support and keep last hits consistent. Stand where you can attack without stepping into both enemy players’ threat range.

Mid game

Collect safe farm while staying close enough to join your team. Check the map before crossing an exposed side lane for one more wave.

Teamfights

Keep dealing damage to an accessible target while tracking enemy engage tools. A safer sustained position is often better than chasing a distant carry.

Before your next fight, check: Death's Hand · Demonic Ascension · Combos

Swain · Mid
Early game

Use the wave to control when trades happen. Keep a defensive option if the opposing jungler is missing, and avoid forcing a combo into a large enemy wave.

Mid game

Move after checking the wave, vision and who can follow. A useful roam should not cost several uncontested waves for no clear opportunity.

Teamfights

Fight from a position where you can repeat your useful spells. Look for an opening after enemy control is spent instead of entering first by habit.

Before your next fight, check: Death's Hand · Demonic Ascension · Combos

Swain · Top
Early game

Keep trades short until you understand the opponent’s main cooldown. Check the minion wave before chasing and preserve a route back to your tower.

Mid game

Decide between a side-lane push and joining the next objective. Push only as far as your vision and teammate positions allow.

Teamfights

Agree on your job before the fight: pressure a side, threaten a target or protect a carry. Save a key defensive tool when the enemy can turn on you.

Before your next fight, check: Death's Hand · Demonic Ascension · Combos

06

Matchup preparation

Compare opponents in the build for the role you are actually playing. Then check their key control, escape and defensive spells before choosing your trade.

07

Practice checklist

  1. Cast each ability alone and identify its range, target conditions and stopping point.
  2. Practise the first sequence slowly. Repeat it while moving, without skipping the conditions shown on its card.
  3. After each attempt, identify the spell you would still have available to defend or retreat.
