Tools to play around

What can go wrong

  • Orb of DeceptionPractise the hit area and target conditions first. Do not spend the rest of your rotation automatically when the opening damage misses.
  • Fox-FireRead the effect and its conditions, then practise it alone. Build your sequence around the effect you can reliably reproduce.
  • A completed combo is only useful when your position, resources and follow-up are safe.

03

Abilities & tips

Open an ability to read its effect and a practical use tip.

PEssence Theft

After killing 9 minions or monsters, Ahri heals. After taking down an enemy champion, Ahri heals for a greater amount.

Use it well

Read the effect and its conditions, then practise it alone. Build your sequence around the effect you can reliably reproduce.

QOrb of Deception

Ahri sends out and pulls back her orb, dealing magic damage on the way out and true damage on the way back.

Use it well

Practise the hit area and target conditions first. Do not spend the rest of your rotation automatically when the opening damage misses.

WFox-Fire

Ahri gains a brief burst of Move Speed and releases three fox-fires, that lock onto and attack nearby enemies.

Use it well

Read the effect and its conditions, then practise it alone. Build your sequence around the effect you can reliably reproduce.

ECharm

Ahri blows a kiss that damages and charms an enemy it encounters, instantly stopping movement abilities and causing them to walk harmlessly towards her.

Use it well

Practise the hit area and target conditions first. Do not spend the rest of your rotation automatically when the opening damage misses.

RSpirit Rush

Ahri dashes forward and fires essence bolts, damaging nearby enemies. Spirit Rush can be cast up to three times before going on cooldown, and gains additional recasts when taking down enemy champions.

Use it well

Decide where you want to finish the movement before casting. Using mobility to enter a fight can leave fewer options to retreat.

Ahri combos: timing and positioning

AA = basic attack. Practise each step slowly before increasing speed.

Short lane trade

  1. AA
  2. Fox-FireW
  3. Orb of DeceptionQ

Attack the champion, then use W and aim Q along their retreat. Practise returning to a safe distance after the exchange.

Watch out : Do not follow the target through a large enemy wave for one extra attack.

Follow up a landed Charm

  1. CharmE
  2. Orb of DeceptionQ
  3. Fox-FireW

Aim E from a clear angle. When it connects, follow with Q and W. If E misses, reassess the trade before stepping forward.

Watch out : Keep the path to the target clear of minions; E stops on the first enemy hit.

Create an angle with your ultimate

  1. Spirit RushR
  2. CharmE
  3. Orb of DeceptionQ
  4. Spirit RushR
  5. Fox-FireW

Use the first R to find an open angle, then E and Q. Reposition with a later R and use W in range. Aim to catch the returning Q while keeping an exit available.

Watch out : Wait for R to become available again between casts; do not spend every charge just to stay close.

Game plan by role

Ahri · Mid
Early game

Use the wave to control when trades happen. Keep a defensive option if the opposing jungler is missing, and avoid forcing a combo into a large enemy wave.

Mid game

Move after checking the wave, vision and who can follow. A useful roam should not cost several uncontested waves for no clear opportunity.

Teamfights

Fight from a position where you can repeat your useful spells. Look for an opening after enemy control is spent instead of entering first by habit.

06

Matchup preparation

Compare opponents in the build for the role you are actually playing. Then check their key control, escape and defensive spells before choosing your trade.

07

Practice checklist

  1. Cast each ability alone and identify its range, target conditions and stopping point.
  2. Practise the first sequence slowly. Repeat it while moving, without skipping the conditions shown on its card.
  3. After each attempt, identify the spell you would still have available to defend or retreat.
